Primary Olympics

On Saturday our Primary had an Olympics party. Heather Saito, Laurie Gustafson, Sanae Gazdik, and I were in charge of it and we received a lot of help from the teachers as well. We has all sorts of events from a dress up relay to tug-o-war to three legged race to giant ball rolling. It was such a fun day! We had about 60 kids come. The senior primary would complete while the junior cheered them on and then vice-versa. They each received a medal at the end and we hope they each went home feeling that they had done their best. Nathan's favorite part was the tug-o-war. He was still talking about it the next day. Mackenzie even got into it. I had several shots of Brian but because he was always moving so quickly they all turned out blurry except for the one when he had to sit on the sidelines with his brother and wait his turn. They are really good to each other. Although he had a great time, by the end, Nathan had had enough of the energy and the cheering and went around covering his ears. Everyone seemed to have a great time from the primary children to the adults!

Happy Easter!

This Easter morning we woke up to a chorus of "Little Bunny Foo-Foo" as the kids tried to be as patient as they could before going downstairs to see what the Easter bunny brought. How many times in our lives will Mark and I get such an Easter morning greeting? Being a parent brings so many wonderful memories. The kids were not excited about stopping to get their pictures taken. It probably had something to do with their sugar and chocolate intake levels. By the time they were ready for church all they wanted to do was give each other bunny ears and poke each other. So much for a lovely Easter picture, but we guess that is what memories are made of, funny antics and personalities.

How did you get that new hairdo?

Mackenzie went outside today to jump on the trampoline and got a new do. She insists on wearing pajamas all day long. There is not much we can do about other than shrug our shoulders and tell her that it's fine. She loves her pink PJ's, they have holes in the knees which thanks to modern technology we can edit out of the photograph. Despite her strong pajama fetish, we do think it is necessary for her to wear a dress to church and regular play clothes to school. We are still working on her letting us do her hair. Anything at all is an accomplishment, even a clip to pull it away from her face. Someday we will long for the slim to none time she puts into her hair now. We are sure that when she is older we will long for these days as she is spending hours and hours in front of the mirror curling and primping her hair. We think she is wonderful just the way she is with holes in her pink pajamas and hair free to do as it wills!

After it stopped snowing, Columbus practically shut down for a day or two. The kids got out of school for a day because the buses were snowed in. Church was canceled. On Saturday night we went out to grab some fast food and along the way helped four people who had gotten stuck. One guy we helped on our way out and then we helped him on our way back. We love four wheel drive! The kids from the neighborhood often gather at our house, this time it was for a snowball fight. Mark built a snow cave large enough that even he could fit in it. Afterward we pulled out the hot chocolate maker we got from Mike and Jamie for Christmas. It makes great hot chocolate!

It snowed & snowed & snowed & snowed. Until we had over 20 inches within a couple of days. The kids played snow baseball with Dad and build igloos.
